Rowland loses KO shocker!
By Andre Courtemanche
The Troy Rowland express came to a screeching halt tonight in front of thousands of his adoring fans at the DeltaPlex in Grand Rapids, Michigan, as Downey, California via Ecuador’s Fernando Zuniga repeatedly dropped and staggered the hometown favorite on his way to a TKO at 1:01 of round 7. Zuniga, who had reportedly spent an extended training camp in Big Bear, was simply too strong for Rowland and hurt him with nearly every shot he landed. Rowland was down three times in all and nearly down a few more. The loss brings to an end a 17 fight winning streak that saw Rowland ascend to WBO #12, IBF #13 and WBC #14 at middleweight. With the win, Zuniga revives his career and goes to 23-7 (18). Rowland, who had been in consideration for a fight against Jermaine Taylor recently, falls to 21-2 (5).
